New and CuriousHi guys. My name is Mike, and I'm new to the site - Found my way here while looking for some kind of chess community in Saskatoon. I was hoping I could find more information once I signed up, as to where and when you guys meet, or even if you still meet at all on a weekly basis but the forum topics are rather outdated. I'd like to be a part of meets if that is at all possible. Do you still hold weekly gatherings, and if so, when/where? It'd be great if someone could get back to me :). I look forward to hearing from you. Mike

Ah, I wish I was able to attend the tournament. Next time I suppose. And, as far as coming down this Sunday goes, that was the Idea! 10am at Mystic Java right? Well, between 10-11 of course. I should be there :). Been looking forward to meeting you guys :).

So how was the tourny guys? I hope it went well!. Assuming your back already that is.. It's only tuesday (But I'm pretty sure it's over).. I'd love to hear about it.. This upcoming sunday is back on, correct?

Was very well run. My own tournament was cut short by illness, but I enjoyed the 5 games I played. You coming out this Sunday?

...Not this Sunday, nor the one after it (that's the last day of the CDN Open). The Sunday after *that* though... :)

Yeah, my girlfriend wasn't feeling well Sunday, so I stayed home with her. If you do meet up sometime this week be sure to post it, I'm free most of the week, so I should be able to make it. If not then I'll see you guys not next Sunday, but the one following :)

With everything that David said. The only reason I say so is because we need to prove that he is not the only one who peruses this website. I will be at the Canadian Open as well so next weekend is out for me... but we missed you at MJ today. It's entirely possible that an impromptu gathering will take place sometime this week in preparation for the biggest tournament of the year. Stay tuned I suppose.

Welcome! Our official meeting time is Monday 7-10 PM in Lower Place Riel on the U of S Campus, but we are basically on summer hiatus right now. We will continue to meet on Mondays, same time and place, starting in September.
But that doesn't mean that you are out of luck for chess in the summer. We continue to meet regularly, albeit informally, over the summer months. A few of us meet regularly on Sundays at Mystic Java (coffee shop on 8th St) from ~10-2. You are more than welcome to join us! Also, you can send me an e-mail at ron.dino@gmail.com and I'll add you to our mailing list for other informal gatherings...
Be aware that with the Canadian Open coming up (Edmonton, July 11-19) most of the Saskatoon chess community is going to be out of town during that period -- don't expect to find anyone at Mystic Java, for example, until the following weekend.
Anyway, it's good to hear from you, and I hope to see you sometime in the near future. I'll be at Mystic Java this Sunday if you want to play a little chess. Cheers,
